Его сын и невестка сумеют вытянуть из него крупную сумму.► Эта ослепительная картина – 1-й из фильмов, снятых Капрой для студии «Columbia», с которой он не расстанется до 1939 г. Основная часть фильма содержит по гэгу на план и по гэгу на титр. Это одна из самых малоизвестных немых картин Капры. Ее быстрый темп, изобретательность, трезвое и эффективное совершенство актерской игры ставят ее в один ряд с лучшими фильмами режиссера. В одной лишь короткой сцене (героиня под свист и улюлюканье соседей возвращается к матери, всего несколько часов пожив жизнью миллиардеров) Капра вкратце пересказывает будущее содержание одного из своих самых знаменитых фильмов Леди на день, Lady for а Day, 1933. На протяжении всего фильма Капра иронично высмеивает женский карьеризм. Но прежде всего он нападает на жадный и скаредный капитализм (ломтики мяса, тонкие, как папиросная бумага, – символ успеха ресторанов «АБЧ»), который режиссер мечтает заменить на другую разновидность капитализма, щедрую в своем изобилии (предприятие молодоженов кладет в свои обеды навынос куда более жирные куски). Конечно, по своему посылу фильм менее оптимистичен и более тревожен, чем того желал бы Капра (2-й вид капитализма, несомненно, станет со временем таким же безжалостным, как 1-й).
